  • Solvent-free
  • Scrub resistance class 1
  • Coverage class 1

Biobased content

A big step forward in the percentage of biobased raw materials. Ralston ExtraTex Matt [2] is now in the 40 – 60%* biobased raw material category. This is the first water-borne wall paint with a combination of high quality and a high percentage of biobased raw materials.

Improved flow, no paint build-up and no lap marks

The longer ‘open time’ and the adjustment of the rheology and viscosity provide a better flow, prevent lap forming and ensure that there are no ‘marks’ visible.

Good spray-ability and a super smooth result

It does not matter if the application is done by airless, airmix or airless heated. The results are super smooth and dilution with water is not necessary.

Ralston’s sustainable wall paint is completely matt, has good hiding power and is easy to clean. With this innovation we show that you can paint more sustainably without losing quality. Because this wall paint is good on all scores. The application of the product has been extensively tested by professional painters and is considered to be very good.

Paint with renewable biobased raw materials

A big step forward in the percentage of biobased raw materials. Ralston ExtraTex Matt [2] is now in the 40 – 60%* biobased raw material category. This is the first water-borne wall paint with a combination of high quality and a high percentage of biobased raw materials. The performance of each paint depends on the quality of the binding agent used. Ralston has developed an innovative binding agent technology based on vegetable oils that can replace the more traditional binding agents. In contrast to fossil raw materials, vegetable oil is a renewable resource. Extracted from sunflowers, corn and olives, for example, these vegetable oils are primarily used in the food industry. These are then recovered and recycled for use in our binding agent – meaning no additional farmland is used and no disruption to the food chain.

In short, Ralston's BIO series contains raw materials that:

  • Can grow back within the lifetime of the paint
  • Are extracted from inexhaustible sources
  • Are produced responsibly
  • Are not detrimental to the food chain

Uniquely high biobased percentage: between 40% - 60%

In order to determine the biobased content of our paints, we measure the proportion of biobased raw materials as a percentage of the total product. We do this with the certified C14 method in accordance with the NEN-EN 16640:2017 standard.

By expressing the biobased content as a percentage of the entire product, you can clearly see the actual proportion of biobased (renewable raw materials) in a product. If you want to compare the biobased percentage of products with each other, make sure that the same measuring method is used for all products.

All whites and base paints are solvent-free. Depending on the chosen colour, base and colour pastes used, a small amount of solvent may be present in the product, not exceeding a few grams per litre.

Sustainable paint deserves a sustainable packaging 100% recycled

The packaging is made of 100% plastic from consumer waste. In other words, post consumer recyclate. Within the paint industry, Koninklijke van Wijhe Verf is the first to use sustainable packaging. We were the first to choose the anthracite-coloured bucket. There are now more to follow.
